INTERMODAL CONTAINER
TRANSPORT

Whether your container arrives by vessel or by rail, WM Transports handles the final leg — from terminal or ramp to your warehouse door. 15 years of experience moving ISO containers across Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada.

The Service

The last mile of your
container's long journey

Your ISO container has crossed an ocean, been off-loaded at POLB or POLA, and now it needs to move the final 30, 80, or 300 miles to its destination. That's intermodal trucking — and it's where WM Transports operates every single day.

Wilfred McGirt started hauling intermodal freight as a company driver and hasn't stopped. He knows the rhythm of container terminals: when they're congested, which lanes move fastest, how to handle a chassis split, and how to avoid the detention clock running up on your freight bill. That knowledge is worth more than the rate sheet.

As an owner-operator, Wilfred runs a maintained truck with no in-between layers — you book the load, he picks it up. No dropped loads, no driver substitutions, no surprises.

What We Handle

Every container type.
Every move in the chain.

Marine Terminal Pickup

Container lifted off the vessel at POLB or POLA and ready for delivery? We handle the dray from any marine terminal in the LA/Long Beach port complex.

Rail Ramp Pickup

Container coming in on BNSF or UP intermodal? We pick up from LA Basin rail ramps including LATC, Commerce, and San Bernardino — and deliver to your DC.

Regional Delivery

Full delivery across the LA Basin, Inland Empire (Ontario, Fontana, Riverside), Orange County, San Diego, and long-haul runs to Phoenix and Las Vegas.

20ft, 40ft & 45ft Containers

Standard dry, high-cube, and oversized ISO containers. We confirm equipment compatibility before accepting your load so there are no size surprises at pickup.

Chassis Management

Chassis pool availability is the biggest wildcard in SoCal intermodal. Wilfred navigates pool splits, know the depot locations, and won't leave you stuck with detention charges from a chassis he couldn't source.

Proactive Communication

Direct driver communication — not a tracking portal you check alone. Wilfred sends you updates at pickup, in transit, and at delivery. You always know where your container is.

The WM Difference

Why shippers choose
an owner-operator for intermodal

Intermodal trucking in Southern California is brutally competitive — every 3PL has a carrier list, and the instinct is to go with the cheapest rate. But the shipper who's dealt with a missed pickup window, a chassis split fee passed on without notice, or a driver who doesn't answer his phone mid-delivery knows that the cheapest dray often costs the most in the end.

WM Transports offers something the big carriers structurally cannot: direct access to the person driving your freight. Wilfred answers his phone. He knows your container number. He can tell you exactly where he is on the 710 at 6am. That's not a pitch — it's just the reality of how an owner-operator works versus a fleet of 300 drivers dispatched by a coordinator who's never seen the port.
